A tunnel under a tunnel
In front of the entrance to the old tunnel in Brienno, there is a sign indicating “Galleria Mina”. During WWI this tunnel was built as an ambush and as a warehouse for artillery equipment which, in case of an advance of the invaders, would be blown up to invade the road, thus blocking the only entry both northwards and southwards. Soldiers and travellers have left graffiti on the bricks. Today it is a place for silence and remembrance telling a story now forgotten even by the locals.
