Huge and mysterious boulders
Piazzaga, a small hamlet near Torno, can be reached only by walking, with a mule track setting aside incredible discoveries of historical and archaeological importance. In the whole area there are, sometimes easily visible, sometimes more hidden, a few hidden erratic boulders which, during the Quaternary era, were dragged by the glaciers which formed Lake Como. Some appear excavated and worked to obtain tombs for the mighty of the area. A few examples of these extraordinary “massi avelli” can be found along the trail leading to Cascine Negrenza. The view of the burials, placed in forests of century-old chestnut trees, raises deep feelings. If you wish to know more deeply this and other little known places you can join cultural and gastronomical itineraries organized along the whole region.
